An up-coming Gambian artist based in London is launching his mix tape tonight at Brufut MAXHALL.
The rising star, IZZ JUVEY (izz just universal vibration and encouragement for the youths), is lighting Brufut with his mixtape expected to be a banger in town.
In a brief chat with The Standard, accompanied by a group of enthusiastic fans that stormed our offices, Izzy said he has gathered enough skills in music to torch the crowd tonight.
“I have been doing music since 2004 but never released an album. I have been recording songs and singles. It was a hobby for me and I sometimes sit in my room with my friends recording and listening to ourselves and know that I can do it. Then I started pursuing my music career. The mix tape will contain 15 or 17 songs.
“I released singles such as mummy in a black (MOB), merro kanaa kumbo, true love never dies, in the ghetto and tribute.
I’m working with star empire records studio in London, and also Sannehmentereng Records in the Gambia
“I have connection with some Gambian artists too who will be also performing in my show. Artists like Mighty Joe, Jizzles, T- Smallz and others.
“Gambian people have known me as an artist and I think I should be recognized by Gambian people too. This is why I’m organizing my show here. After all I’m a Gambian but based in London. I want everybody to be there to give me the maximum support I need from you. And a big thanks to my fan base.”
