The Gambia Ports Authority will qualify to the CAF Confederations Cup should they lose and fail to advance in the Champions League when they visit DR Congo to play AS Vita Club in the 2nd leg of their final round of qualifiers on Sunday.
The Gambian champions, who played out a 1-1 draw with Vita Club at the Independence Stadium in Bakau last Sunday, must either score or win through an odd number of goals to qualify to the group stage of the competition, failure of which will meanwhile offer them an opportunity of playing in the Confederations Cup through the play-offs.
The play-off round includes 32 teams: the 16 winners of the Confederation Cup first round and the 16 losers of the Champions League first round.
GPA took the lead in the first leg through Alagie Sarr before Francisco Obama Ondo levelled fifteen minutes from time.
The return leg will take place this Sunday at the 80,000 capacity Stade des Martyrs in the town of Lingwala in Kinshasa at 15:30 GMT.
The match will be officiated by Malagasy referee Hamada Nampiandraza and will be assisted by compatriots Pierre Jean Eric Andrivoavonjy and Jean Thierry Djaonirina.
