Even though he died about nineteen years ago, Omar Bun Jeng is still regarded as one of the most respected preachers to have come out of The Gambia. According to excerpts from his biography being kept by his son in his homestead in Gunjur, the ancestors of Omar Bun Jeng hailed from the ancient Malian city of Djenne.
