Charity should always begin at home

Many countries in Africa seem to be obsessed with the so-called opportunities that lie across the Atlantic, apparently convinced that the field is always greener on the other side. Governmental and non-governmental bodies have been moved into establishing trade links with counterparts in those far ends of the world. The players in The Gambia, our homeland, are no exception. And, like with many African countries, it often turns out that these trade links do not yield the expected full benefits for our people.
