Within the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Ramadhan, Muslims believe is a night referred to as Lailat-ul-Qadr (the Night of Decree). It is believed that the night is so blessed that it is better than a lifetime of man. It is said that the Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. This is roughly eighty years. Thus, it is said that whatever is supplicated it is granted.

Thus, Muslims are desirous of getting the blessings of identifying that night so that they will spend most of it supplicating God for forgiveness. The Founder of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has said that the Night of decree is found in one of the odd numbers of the last ten days of the month.

Therefore, we observe all over the world that when the last ten days come, many Muslims devote a major part of their time supplicating in mosques and homes and increase their charity and generosity. It is common for Muslim devotees to spend these last days in the mosque in devoted worship of Allah, the Sublime. This is so that one will surely come across the Night of Decree.

Last night, Muslims from across the country engaged themselves in this form of worship and supplication. May Allah accept all the prayers and bless the country with peace and security.
