Anthony B prepares for Gambia concert

Popular Jamaican reggae star Anthony B is set for a reggae festival scheduled for 27 January 2018 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
The Jamaican songster will perform alongside Cali P and Tiwony and other Gambian acts such as ST, T Smallz, Lixen, Junior King, Sophia and the best local deejays.
The show dubbed, “The Smiling Coast Reggae Festival” is being organised by Mighty Children and Jah Rising Sun.

According to its communication strategist Nfamara Jawneh, the festival is the first of its kind to be held in The Gambia.
“We are bringing reggae, dancehall and cultural artistes, bands and deejays from the Caribbean and Europe to join hands with our top local Gambian stars to showcase an unforgettable night of pure musical vibes,” he said.

The idea behind the event is to dedicate a night strictly to celebrate reggae and that will be celebrated annually in the Smiling Coast.
Widely known for his hits Judgment time, Untouchable, Power of Creation, Rasta love, Live over Death and High Meditation, Anthony B is a Jamaican reggae giant credited for his outspoken lyrics.
He released his new album in 2016 titled Tears of Luv. The album was released on his label Born Fire Music and he has collaborated with various producers around the world including Evidence Music on his track Life Good.

Jawneh said the festival is aimed at promoting positive vibes as well as highlighting the country’s beautiful and rich culture across the world.
He hailed the main brain behind the festival Mamadi Touray of Mighty Children and Jah Rising Sun for their foresight and commitment in promoting Gambian music internationally.
“It’s New Year gift to The Gambian people and we are calling all Gambians young and old to come we create history all together!”he added.

 

Brief bio
Born Keith Blair on March 1976 in Trelawney Parish, Jamaica, better known by his stage name, Anthony B is a Jamaican deejay and member of the Rastafari movement.
He grew up in rural Clarks Town in the northwestern parish of Trelawney in Jamaica. He adopted Rastafari movement beliefs as a teenager, decision which was not well received by his family. He has released many albums and collaborated with a number of artistes including Sizzla, Buju Banton, Luciano and Junior Kelly.
