Jah Cure talks of ‘historic’ concert in Gambia

Globetrotting reggae star Jah Cure has spoken ahead of his first-ever performance in The Gambia slated for 30 December at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
From outperforming headlining international acts to filling up concert venues, Jah Cure is undeniably one of reggae’s greatest voices of recent times.

The Jamaican singer, who received his first Grammy nod for Best Reggae Album in 2016, will perform alongside Jah Bouks and Mikki Ras, all from Jamaica alongside other Gambian artistes.
In a pre-concert promo, Jah Cure who said he is looking forward to what ‘a historic’ concert in The Gambia, equally described his upcoming visit as ‘homecoming’.

He quipped: “Gambia, listen-up! This is Jah Cure, live saying I will be there for the first-time at the offiicial mega concert of the Diaspora Festival 2017 at the Independence Stadium. I’m in Gambia with AJ Promotions. Make sure you buy your tickets, get ready and prepare for me am coming. I love you Gambia and I know you have been wanting and waiting to see me and I have been waiting to see you too. Expect me as this will be moments to remember.

This will be historic.This will be me coming home to my families. Make you all prepare to meet me at the airport!”
In an interview with Standard Lite, Pachang, who is the coordinator of the event, confirmed that preparations are currently at an advanced stage as some of the billboards, radio adverts and fliers are out.
The upcoming concert, he said, is going to be historic because this will be Jah Cure’s first visit to The Gambia.
He said the event will attract home-based Gambians and those from the Diaspora.
Jah Cure and his entourage are due in The Gambia on 27 December 2017, a day after staging a similar concert in Dakar, Senegal.

While in The Gambia, the singer best known for hits including Longing For, Unconditional Love, True Reflection, Call on Me and The Cure, is also expected to thrill his fans on 28 and 29 at Sand Beach and Bamboo Seaview hotels respectively.

Brief bio
Born Siccature Alcock on 11 October 1978 in Hanover, Jamaica, Jah Cure as widely referred to is a Jamaican reggae musician, who was raised in Kingston.
His first big break came in March 1997 when he released the single King in this Jungle which was a duet with Sizzla.

The single was produced by Beres Hammond who went on to become his mentor. He then released a steady stream of singles that won him popular acclaim.
