Some 170 Gambians are arriving in the country from Libya today, the secretary general of the Gambian Association in the North African country, Edrisa Sarjo, has informed The Standard.
Sarjo said the migrants whose return is aided by the International Organisation for Migration will leave Libya at 10 a.m. and will arrive in Gambia at 15:00.
Since the beginning of 2017, hundreds of Gambians have so far returned to the country through the help of IOM and the Gambia government.
It is estimated that Gambia has at least over 500 young people in various Libyan jails wanting to return home.
Sarjo, who is currently based and helping Gambians in Libya, alleged that some returnees had complained of being charged for the luggage.
