At least 35 soldiers graduated Monday from the engineering unit of The Gambia Armed Forces Yundum Barracks.
The graduation came after completion of a three-month intensive training course in engineering.
Addressing the graduates in his welcoming remarks, Inspector General of GAF, Alagie Martin, said the primary objective for establishing the engineering unit was to provide engineering support to the various units of the GAF.

“In the near future, some Engineers shall be going on courses in Senegal and various states. GAF will continue to sponsor officers and other ranks of the Engineering core to pursue courses at the university and abroad.” He said
The graduates then did a Power Point presentation on store records, sliding partition, welding, electrical, setting out plan, painting, steel fixing, carpentry, Art and craft etc. which was the scope of their training course.
However, the presentation was concluded by Nyima Camara, a female soldier of The Gambia Armed Forces Engineering Unit who presented on the Prohibited Relationships in the tradition of the Gambia Armed Forces. In it, she stated that it is against the tradition of the Gambia Armed Forces for a soldier to be part of a political party or an association.
