By the grace of Allah Almighty, Lajna Imaillah (Female Wing) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at the Gambia, successfully held their 13th National Ijtema (Annual Convention) from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th February 2018, at Baitus Salam Mosque, Talinding, The Gambia.

Amir Sahib, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, the Gambia, Respected Baba F. Trawally addressing the participants in his closing remarks states “It is a great blessing to be part of the Jama’at of the Promised Messiah and Imam MahdiAS, whose advent was prophesied by our beloved Master, the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustapha(saw). As women, you have a very great role to play in our society and this is evident when we look at the history of Islam over 1400 years ago and even today. The first person to embrace Islam when Allah Almighty commissioned the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) as a prophet was a woman, by the name Hadhrat Khadija(ra) the beloved wife of the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw). Her sacrifice was so great that she handed over all her belonging to the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw), who in turn used it to help the poor and needy in the society.”

Citing the great sacrifices that other female members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat has done, Amir Sahib said “Women in the Jamaat, through the years have offered many noble sacrifices the examples of which are still very prevalent for everyone to see. The first mosque in London, Fazl Mosque also called London Mosque, built in 1924 was constructed by Ahmadi Muslim women. In Germany, the beautiful mosque called Khadija mosque, built in Berlin was also built by Ahmadi Muslim women.

Reminding the women that it is their responsibility to train the younger generation, Amir Sahib said that “as Lajna (females), it is your great responsibility to train the younger generation. Train children to be active in observing their religious responsibilities, the most important of which is offering the Five Daily Prayers. Children should be told to be offering their prayers and in that regard, the parents should set a very good example by being active in Salat themselves. Parents, both mothers and fathers must jointly and unitedly take full responsibility in the upbringing and training of their children in order to become good and responsible citizens of the society. Encourage and train the young ones to acquire both religious and secular knowledge. Your responsibilities are not confined within the four corners of the house, but in reality they are beyond that. You must be involved in building the Gambia at the Local, Regional and National levels and continue to be law abiding and peaceful citizens and should not be associated or take part in any fitna (disorder) in anywhere and at any time. May Allah Almighty make it easy for all of you.”

In conclusion, Amir Sahib conveyed His Holiness Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih’s V(ATBA) salam and special prayers to all the participants and the entire country and stated that His Holiness is continuously praying for everyone and our dear and beloved country The Gambia. He urged the participants to continue praying for the peace, stability and progress of our dear and beloved Country the Gambia and to always be peaceful and law-abiding
