Ahmadiyya Jama’at gives over D50, 000 to fire victims

By Amadou Jadama The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, The Gambia in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) of the West Coast Region and the Governor’s Office, Monday presented fifty thousand and six hundred dalasi to 23 fire victims in West Coast Region. Each victim received two thousand two hundred dalasi. The ceremony was held at NDMA Headquarters in Brikama. Presenting the cash to the victims, Baba F Trawally, the Amir of the Jama’at said: “In The Gambia, we are all brothers and sisters. If there is disaster in any where we should always be there to assist, and Islam has called on us to assist another Muslim or non-Muslim. “…Because of the teachings of the prophet Muhammad, (pbuh) we are all motivated when there is a disaster or problem somewhere, the Jama’at come in and see how best to help. This is part of humanity for us to assist each other.” Amir Trawally promised continued support for victims of disaster: “Today we have distributed fifty thousand and six hundred dalasi, which is a small amount. We want to do more than that, this is an incident and nobody pray for that but due to the decree of Allah the Almighty, we have to accept it.” Alhaji Ebrahima Mbowe, the deputy Amir of the Jama’at, said the Jama’at is always striving to be an example for others to follow in terms of helping humanity. “That is why we have come out with this gesture,” he added. Governor of West Coast Region, Bakary Sanyang, also said said as chairman of the Regional Disaster Committee, he made an appeal to the Ahmadiyya mission to come to their aid.]]>
