Moving the motion, Honourable Jallow said The Gambia and Cuba have enjoyed longstanding brotherly relations, based on mutual cooperation and understanding.
“This move shall enhance cooperation and support between the two legislatures in key relevant areas such as development cooperation, legislative support, technical assistance, as well as boost the people -to-people relations among others,” he said.
He said the two nations have been great friends and The Gambia has been offering support to Cuban interests and causes in the international arena.

Honourable Jallow further said Cuba has been contributing to the improvement of medical services in the Gambia by providing doctors and nurses in the country.
He said the mandate of the friendship group is to “foster inter-parliamentary relations and contribute to the development of the bilateral relations.”
The National Assembly member for Banjul North, Ousman Sillah, said Cuban-Gambian relations should be cherished.

NAM for Wuli West, Sedia Jatta, said if the parliament should befriend any parliament in the world, it should be the Cuban parliament because both countries share the same historical circumstances. He said Cuba helped a lot in the fight to liberate this continent.
Many Cubans lost their lives in the process continent,” he said.
