The leader of the opposition Gambia Democratic Congress, Mamma Kandeh, has called on President Adama Barrow to dissolve his cabinet and bring in new people who have the desire to serve the country.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday in the wake of the Faraba police shootings, Mamma Kandeh said contrary to what President Barrow believes, he does not have a strong team behind him, because his team is absent with all the mess happening.

“If they are not capable, let them give.
President needs to change his team and bring in capable people since he had admitted that he himself has no experience and will rely on his team,” he said.
Kandeh also called on Barrow to be more action-oriented on all pressing matters and take all necessary steps to give Gambians the answers they have been waiting for on this recent Faraba incident.
“We are in a democratic Gambia, why did the police open fire at unarmed Gambians? The government should bring all the Faraba incident perpetrators to book,” he demanded.
The GDC leader said the Faraba incident could have been avoided if necessary steps were taken towards addressing the tension.

“When issues come up, as a government you should have taken all necessary steps to solve them rather than waiting until the situation goes out of hand. The Inspector General of Police said he hasn’t ordered his personnel to fire at the people and now this raises the question, who gave them the guns and bullets that were used to fire at people?” Kandeh asked.
“We have not seen any outcome in any of those investigations they have conducted. Investigations must have outcomes and we are yet to see any outcomes,” Kandeh added.
