Awa Minteh, younger sister of Yankuba Touray’s wife Mamie Minteh, Wednesday told the High Court presided over by Justice Ebrima Ba Jaiteh that her brother-in-law (Yankuba Touray) and Edward Singhatey were not bosom friends.
She made this revelation whilst responding to questions by principal State Counsel A.M.Yusuf during cross examination.

Awa Minteh, who is testifying as the 1st defence witness for Yankuba Touray disclosed that she knew both her brother-in-law and Edward were members of the AFPRC.
She testified that Edward only visited them at their Kerr Serign residence once after they relocated from Cape Point and that was in attendance of the naming ceremony of the 2nd child, Edward Touray who was named after Edward Singhatey.

She said after that naming ceremony, she never saw Edward Singhatey in the house, adding that he (Edward) never brought gifts or visited his namesake as others usually shower their namesakes with gifts or pay regular visits.

She revealed that in 1995, she was never aware that Edward Singhatey was the vice-chairman of the AFPRC but had known Edward as the Minister of Defence as they used to talk about the members of the AFPRC.

Awa Minteh told the court that she was her elder sister’s confidante, noting that her elder sister used to inform her whatever she does or where she goes in her absence even whilst she was in school.

The witness further told the court that neither she nor her elder sister ever visited Edward’s residence in Cape Point whilst they were living in Kerr Serign.
