Essa Jallow back at GRTS

Essa Jallow, a former member of staff of the Gambia Radio and Television Services in the embryonic days of the TV, has returned to work there as senior manager television programmes.
Mr Jallow who started his new job last week is one of the most experienced and trained television journalists. He first joined the institution in 1992 as English announcer at the then Radio Gambia. In 1996 with the advent of the Television he was moved to the TV and rose to the position of senior producer. He was a pioneering member of the first sports programmes on GRTS multi sports and sports round up as well as the man behind videos of many rap groups that emerged at the time.

Mr Jallow also worked at the Gambia Family Planning Association GFPA as video editor and for a brief spell last year, he forayed into politics becoming the press secretary of the Gambia Democratic Congress GDC. Mr Jallow quit politics several months ago saying his journey into politics has been cut short when the objective, removing Jammeh, was achieved.

Mr Jallow holds a BA (Hons) in Interactive Media from Liverpool John Moores University and
Foundation Degree TV production at the University of Salford Manchester as well as a Level 3 Diploma Media Production Technique at City and Guilds. Mr Jallow was a production assistant at the Olympic Broadcasting Services (London 2012 Olympics). Jallow also produced and directed numerous films and documentaries in the Gambia and abroad and is a seasoned sports journalist and experienced media production trainer.
