Firefighter who got burnt passes away

After months of struggling with severe body burns, 55-year old fire fighter who got burnt during acting service has breathed his last at his residence in Kunkujang.
Sub-officer Barika Conteh sustained severe body burns when he and his crew left their station ground at Kotu to douse a fire at the Serrekunda  London Corner on Saturday December 31 2016.

But during the firefighting operation a wall in the building fell on him and he got stuck in a room, unconscious. He sustained charred left hand resulting in amputation of the hand and severe burn injuries on the left side of his face involving the eyelids, the occipital region of the head, the sacral region, and multiple areas on his legs.

He was since then admitted at the Serrekunda hospital until his discharge. He died home before he could leave for treatment.
Meanwhile, the PRO of the Gambia Fire and Rescue Services (GFRS) Mohamodou Drammeh, confirmed news of the death of his colleague to the The Standard.
