Dozens of G4S security company staff posted at the United States Embassy on Kairaba Avenue yesterday took to the streets demanding better salaries, non-entitlement benefits and none payment of their annual leaves.

The guards, most of them night shift workers, vacated their guard posts at the Embassy building to converge at the G4S office in Fajara.
Many who spoke to The Standard threatened to stay away from work until their salaries and leave payments are reviewed as well as re-commencement of their four-day off instead of two.
”We are not going to work unless the manager assures us that our dues will be paid and demands met,” said one of the protesting guards.

The protesting guards said they have no idea how much the Embassy is paying to their company for their services but they suspected they are not paid a fraction of what the company makes out of them.
The Standard tried talking to a suspected member of staff of G4S who was seen negotiating with the protesting guards but she declined to comment on the issue.
