GDC’s Cham hints at leadership skills training for youth in politics

The youth leader of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) MC Cham, has indicated the need for leadership trainings for Gambian youths involved in politics.
Mr Cham said youth wings of the various political parties in The Gambia lack civic education.
The youth leader said it was against this backdrop that the GDC is now training party members including its youth wings on leadership skills, calling on other parties to follow in and emulate.
He said trainings are also being held on campaign strategies ahead of the looming and much-anticipated April/May local government elections.

“We have to empower the youths who are involved in politics.”
The youth leader was speaking in an exclusive interview with The Standard on the sidelines of an inter-party youth political dialogue at the Kairaba Hotel recently. The dialogue saw the convergence of youth wing members of the various political parties in the country.
He stated that the GDC is “working very hard day and night” to making they win all major seats in the upcoming local government elections.

The young leader said elections “come and go but Gambia remains,” and urged fellow youngsters to step up and play vital roles in Gambia’s political field.
The Youth and Women Leader of the NCP, Mariama Jammeh Ceesay, said if peace is to be sustained in Gambia, especially during election time, trainings of this nature need to be organised.
Youths to be ward councilors is very important because they represent theirs wards and government “she added.

Madam Jammeh Ceesay concluded that, NCP is not a small party and we have a good track record in Gambian political history since 1970.NCP was founded and launched at Busumbala everyone knows that Sheriff Mustapha Dibba is freedom fighter and the founding members of the Gambian Independence.NCP is here to promote human and women rights and we also contributed to the coalition government.
