The appointment of former Army chief General Ousman Bargie as ambassador to Cuba has been rescinded, official sources confirmed to The Standard. General Bargie was named along with host of new diplomats posted at various missions since the new government came to power. Bargie’s dropping is the second prominent diplomatic appointment to be rescinded following that of Ebrima Manneh who was initially posted to the Washington mission which is now headed by Dawda Fadera.
An official at MoFA on Friday confirmed the development but would not say who will take the post at Cuba. However The Standard has received unconfirmed reports that one Dr Kujeja Manneh is the name widely circulated to be the appointee.
