“The motive behind the school was to continue building Islamic values in Gambia in respective of tribe or family affiliation. The school started operation in Banjul, because by then we thought it wise that we had to build an Islamic school in the Kombos given the fact that most of our families were migrating from the provinces,” he said.

He said in 1995 through the support of the Gambia government the school was established, starting from nursery school, junior school and now senior school, teaching both English and Arabic.
“There is no doubt that today marks yet again another milestone in the history of the school. As we yet again graduate another group of brilliant students. We are glad in the sense that, the school continues to achieve its objective of building excellence in the teaching of Islam,” he said.

He said the school started the Quranic memorisation in 2002 and since then it has graduated 230 young people.
Vice principal Jagana also underscored the school’s commitment to the promotion of excellence and attainment of quality education in the country.

He also took time to discuss on the significance the school management committee attaches to sharing the achievement and challenges of the school over the years in promoting Quranic memorization and inculcating good moral values in their students.

Jagana called on the graduating students to continue the crusade of preaching good Islamic values, saying “Memorising the Quran alone is not enough, you have to live by the dictates of the teachings of the Quran at all times. If not the memorising will be meaningless.”
