By Amadou Jadama Just Back from Dakar Baba F Trawally, the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at The Gambia, said last Friday in Dakar that the purpose of Jalsa Salana is to strengthen love for the Holy prophet of Islam. The Amir was delivering his key note address of the 7th Jalsa Salana (annual convention) of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in Senegal. Jalsa Salana is the formal, annual gathering of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community initiated by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, founder of the community. The conference was held in Diamniadio, about 40km from the capital Dakar. The Amir spoke at length on the importance of Jalsa Salana and told worshippers to work to strengthen their love of Prophet Muhammad. He said: “One of the purposes of Jalsa Salana is to strengthen the love for the Holy Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (pbuh). Love for him is inseparable from the love for our creator, Allah Almighty.” According to the Amir, love of God does not work without love for his [God’s] prophet. “When they do that [love the prophet], Allah Almighty will grant them his love and forgive them their sins and cover their shortcomings. The Holy prophet Muhammad Mustafa (pbuh) also said no one shall be a true believer unless the person loves him [Muhammad] more than his children, parents and mankind all together,” the Amir stated. He said this is because Prophet Muhammad is the noblest of all the creation of Allah the Almighty. “He is the light that illuminates the path to the Kingdom of Allah Almighty,” the Amir reminded. According to him, Jalsa Salana is established by the promised Messiah to promote devotion to the “best of the creation, the bravest of the braves, the seal of the prophets, Muhammad Mustafa (pbuh). “My heart is filled with the desire to praise the master, who has no peer in excellence. He is the most beautiful of the progeny of Adam and more lustrous than the purest of pearls. He is the master, yet a servant of the weak and humble, he is the king, yet he attends upon the helpless.” He prayed that the Jalsa Salana help worshippers develop the ‘perfect love’ for the Holy prophet and messenger of God. The convention brought together participants from The Gambia, Guinea Bissau and Bukina faso.]]>
