Justice Minister Ba Tambadou has told the National Assembly that Dunes Resort and casino is the only landed property frozen by the Janneh Commission and that they are believed to be owned by the former President. Most of the furniture of the resort was sold by the receiver (Augustus Prom) and the proceeds of 363,534.00 (Three hundred and Thirty-four dalasis) are in the Receiver’s bank Account. He also disclosed that 145 tractors have been sold by public auction and the proceeds of the sale totaled D23,655,000 (Twenty-three million and six hundred and fifty five thousand dalasis ). He said of this figure, D10,572, 000.00 was deposited into the commission’s account at the Central Bank of the Gambia while D13,083, 000 was paid into a sub-treasury account at the Trust Bank Limited under the custody of the Accountant General. Asked further by Honorable Halifa Sallah whether this was the only amount realized from the sale since the commencement of the Janneh commission, the minister said: “I confirm that as far as the Janneh commission is concerned these are the total number of properties sold by the commission.” Asked by another member why the monies are kept into two different accounts, the minister replied that both accounts are under the custody of the Accountant General but he would not know why they are different accounts .
