Kanfenda Ahmadiyya Muslim school graduates 27

Kanfenda Ahmadiyya Muslim Basic Cycle School in Foni Kansala – West Coast Region, Saturday marked its first formal passing out ceremony for 27 grade nine students.
Addressing the students at the school grounds, Amadou Baldeh, principal of the school, said: “”I am happy to report that the school performed well with 75 percent pass in English Language, 68 percent pass in Mathematics, 77 percent and 84 passes in General Science and SES respectively. I am proud to mention that more than ten students scored mastery in all these subjects.”

He said his school places high priority on academic performance of students.
“We conduct monthly tests and end of term and year examination. These marks are in record and kept for reference purposes. This school is also very particular in the morals of our students, hence we are determined to see them all excel in this area. It is in this light that the teaching of IRK and morals are high on our agenda.”
“Kanfenda Ahmadiyya Muslim Basic Cycle School was established ten years ago. September 2009 with a total enrollment of 150 students. 27 of tthat number are among those we are witnessing their passing- out this afternoon,” he said.

He advised the outgoing students to make books their friends, and work hard and help their parents. He told them that this was only the beginning of their education, as they prepare for senior secondary education.
He thanked the community for being “very supportive” to the School.
Musa Bah, a teacher at Nusrat Senior Secondary School, who was the guest speaker, told the out-going students as the cream of society, they have been given a responsibility, which they must seek to fulfill.
“The renowned writer-cum-freedom fighter, Franz Fanon has said that every generation has a mission to either fulfil or to betray. I hope you choose the former,” he stated.

Omar NR Sonko, education secretary, Nusrat Jehan Education Secretariat, said: “Today is a very significant day in the history of this school. It is the day that should be remembered not only by the outgoing students but also by students and teachers that will continue to be part of the School.”
The young graduates were each awarded a certificate and presents were given to the ‘Best Male and Female students’.

In attendance were Mamadou Lamin Jarju, former Chief of Foni Kansala, Alkalo of the village, parents, guardians, teachers and principals from other sister institutions.
