Kick For Help donates jerseys to Foni female footballers

Kick For Help, a Germany-based non-profit organisation with chapters in India, Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana, Lesotho, and The Gambia on Tuesday donated sport jerseys to three female football teams in Foni in the West Coast Region.

Each of the beneficiary teams got a set of jerseys, balls and first aid materials.

 The presentation was done in Sibanor village where Nobert Neuser of Kick For Help disclosed that the donation is aimed at empowering and facilitating girls to continue to love playing football. He said in The Gambia the organisation’s focus is to promote social cohesion, peaceful coexistence and access to education, health, and sports activities for young people, women, and people living with disabilities.

“We do this through sports and other capacity building trainings.” he said, adding that they have similar projects in other countries.

“I am very glad that now we have a chance to start the project in The Gambia and I would like to assure that we will always support with equipment,” he added.

Omar M. Bah, Gambian ambassador and executive director for Kick For Help, said the presentation at Sibanor is just the beginning of big plans to empower the youths including girls involved in sports. He praised the partnership of  Mr Nueser and added that helping the young girls and the disabled would bring a positive change in society.,

Ismaila Drammeh, head coach of the Sibanor female football team, thanked the donors for their ‘timely and important’ intervention. He said the girls have immense talent but lacked sports materials.
