Modou Turo Darboe gives out over D1.8M

The CEO of Vision Development Foundation Momodou Turo Darboe on Sunday handed out D1.866, 760 to flood victims, education, religious and other social economic development projects for dozens of beneficiaries in The Gambia and beyond.

Top of the list is students of the University of The Gambia and other tertiary institutions in The Gambia and Senegal which totaled D932, 750.

Some D450, 000 went to mosque projects in Salikenni, Kabafita and Kanifing. The Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia received D300, 000 towards their annual awards night while the flood victims from across many parts of the country got D304, 000. The VDF also donated D30, 000 to the Jiboro Immigration post and D150, 000 to the Fajara Barracks Officer’s Mess project.

Speaking at the ceremony Mr Darboe congratulated the beneficiaries and assured them of the VDF’s vision and determination to help in the hour of need and for the general welfare and propensity of people in communities across the country purely for humanitarian grounds.

The NAM for Wulie East Sidia Jatta commended Mr Darboe and the VDF for fulfilling one divine obligation of man. He said the rich should help the needy, the knowledgeable should help the ignorant while the leader must provide good leadership to the led. Imam Baba Leigh too commended Mr Darboe and the VDF describing their gesture as in conformity with the dictates of the Qur’an. The ceremony was chaired by Saikou Fofana, PRO and director of operation of the VDF.
