The National Enterprise Development Initiative (NEDI) in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Sector Development Project (FASDEP) recently trained 30 young people and women groups.
The training which was funded by FASDEP is meant to equip participants with relevant skills, knowledge and attitude to enhance their cohesiveness on agricultural investment initiatives.

Speaking at the training, the lead trainer, Ousman Sonko said farming is a form of business that require knowledge and perseverance, saying without which it will be difficult to ensure sustainability.
The training, he added, is designed to help the participants have better understanding about farming.
“The training is also meant to help the participants to operate as groups,” he said.
He reminded the participants that investment is not an individual initiative “it belongs to a group and that group needs to know the principles that they need to live by to operate as functional groups.”

“Young farmers will be provided with machineries or farming implements to support them increase their productivity and make the machines accessible to other farmers,” he added.
The program manager National Enterprise Development Initiative, Mustapha Badjie said NEDI is determined to empower and support youth and women entrepreneurs.
He said the training is going to help the beneficiaries on the skills they need to improve their agricultural production.

“Agriculture is the key in the development of any country…It provides us food and everything we need for our survival. This is why young people and women of this country need to be supported to venture into agriculture,” he added.
He said NEDI’s aim is to ensure farming materials are accessible to farmers, “Because young farmers in this country want to do a lot of things but they lack the needed capacity to increase their production.”
