A Nigerian donor has completed the construction of a borehole for an impoverished M’Bolbuck village in CRR-North, ending decades of cries for a potable drinking water.
Dozens of excited natives came out to witness the opening of the borehole, which is now expected to supply the whole village with clean drinking water.
The alkalo, Yorro Kandeh, expressed his “profound gratitude” to donor Dozie Okezie, a Nigerian philanthropist and proprietor of Green Concepts Construction and Services for the humanitarian gesture.
He said with this magnanimity, Mr Okezie has “put to rest” the issue of water shortage which has blighted the poor village for decades.
Pierre Bah, chief of Niani District expressed similar sentiments, and added that the kindness will complement his objective of bringing water to the door step of every native in his administrative area.
Okezie told the villages to take good care of the borehole, which he said cost more than D475,000.
The civil engineer called the donation a contribution of his own quota in The Gambia’s development aspirations. He expressed his readiness to reach out to assist other immiserate villages and communities.
