Over 30 Gambians graduate from India’s Bangalore

At least 30 Gambian students have graduated after completing studies in different fields from India’s Archarya Institute of Technology.
The 30 completed studies in undergraduate and postgraduate in computer sciences, electronics and communication engineering, information system, economics and in other fields of study.
The initiative is part of The Gambia and India’s scholarship programmes.

Shortly before their return to The Gambia, the Association of Gambian Students in India [GAM-IND] hosted its first student week at the Acharya Institute of Technology, Bangalore.
The event included a plethora of activities such as quiz, debate and cultural presentations among other activities.

Speaking to The Standard from India, Lamin Y Ceesay, the president of the association, described the event as “successful”, noting that it creates interaction among and encourage students to showcase their talents in their various fields of expertise as well as discussing challenges underpinning them.
Ebrima Janneh, its vice president, hailed the manner Gambians conduct themselves in India.
He commended the graduates for their dedication and compliance with the rule of law of India.

“In less than a month, these young Gambian graduates will be going home and be ready to contribute their quota to national development, and that this gathering will encourage their colleagues to follow suit,” the communications director of the association, Sheikh Jah, intimated.
GAM-IND was formed in July 2017, with over 200 Gambian students and is committed to the growth and development of Gambians studying in India and creating a favorable environment for successful accomplishment of their studies.
And as part of its duty, the association organises educational and social activities, gathering students from within India’s 23 states.
