They are being tried on two counts of obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to defraud.

When the trial began, the accused persons could not take their plea due to the lack of French and Susu interpreter in court.

Police prosecutors Chief Superintendent Malang Jarju aided by Superintendent Bakary Njie alleged that nine months ago, the accused persons obtained money from various people in Sukuta, Manjai and other places on the pretence of trafficking them to southern Europe through the “back way”.

The police prosecutors said the accused persons also lured people into the Qnet business which is widely alleged to be a Ponzi scheme.

Since the case could not proceed, Magistrate Krubally remanded the accused persons in custody and adjourned the hearings to 25th November. They are being represented by Abdoulie Jarju.
