The United Democratic Party has announced that top NPP mobiliser and grassroots politician with more than 25 years of experience, Ramou J Sabally has quit President Barrow’s NPP, and formally announced her decision to join the UDP, yesterday, August 16, 2021.

Confirming her decision, Ramou a former NPP national women’s spokesperson and Barrow’s Sisters chair woman, thanked the UDP executive and supporters for their persistence in getting her accept joining the party.

“I am happy to join my brother, Momodou Sabbally in the UDP. I have returned all the positions given to me by the NPP. I want to tell all Gambians and especially my followers that henceforth I have joined the UDP,” she said.

Madam Sabally started with the Barrow Youth for National Development, Barrow Fan Club and then the NPP.

Reacting to his sister’s decision to join him, UDP’s foot soldier Momodou Sabally said: “Well this is major league stuff; and certainly nothing short of a game changer in the run up to the 2021 two-horse race between NPP and UDP.

“I feel vindicated and revved up as I intensify my push to unseat Barrow and install Lawyer Darboe as our next president. Having my sister by my side is both insulation and an energizing shot. She knows grassroots politics more than I do and her links, built up over half a century nationwide will be an invaluable addition to our election machinery,” Sabally said.
