The leader of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction, Fabakary Tombong Jatta, has deplored what he called the “militarization of Kanilai” and other areas of Foni.
Jatta said the presence of the ECOMIG forces and soldiers have discomforted and intimidated the residents.

“I will also urge the government to end the illegal curfew in Kanilai. I have spoken to the people there and they told me the military has imposed a curfew on the villagers,” Jatta told journalists at his Tallinding residence.

Jatta further said the APRC is “deeply concern and worried” about the court order which froze the assets of the former president Yahya Jammeh.
“The court order is not in the spirit of reconciliation and contravenes the spirit and the letter of the diplomatic dialogue brokered by the ECOWAS, African Union, United Nations and former president Jammeh that led to a peaceful transfer of power,” he said.

Jatta said the freezing order is equally unlawful and unconstitutional as “it grossly violates the rights to personal property as well as to the provision of section 69, sub-section 3 A and B of the 1997 constitution.

“The order can best be described as witch-hunt and speculative,” Jatta added.
The APRC leader also urged the Barrow administration to swiftly deal with the electricity deficiency that has recently hit Kombo and address the rising inflation of commodity prices.

He also called on the government to end what he called the “illegal deportation of Gambians from Europe and other places around the world”.
He urged the government to address youth unemployment which currently stands at staggering 38%.
