As part of its development objectives one of which is to ensure a cleaner and safe environment, the Sannehmentereng Development Association (SDA) on Sunday planted 311 gmelina trees and 12 palm trees at the Sutuba Community Forest in Brufut. The group promised to continue the greening exercise to help protect the environment for the future generation.
Karamo Alasana Camara, chairman of the association, said trees are integral to the ecosystem of life including those of humans. Mr Camara said the trees that people are benefiting from today were planted yesterday and so it is an obligation for our generation to plant trees for the benefit of the generations coming after us.
The Sutuba Community Forest is an attractive bird-watching site visited by lots of tourists for its rich flora and fauna.
