The high point of the camp was a demonstration of the environmental lessons taught, as the campers went from house to house in the Kerr Sering neighbourhood, planting trees amid singing and dancing animated by the lead vocalist of Kerr Gui Family, Barhama Cham, Awa Bling, and Mariama Yaffa.
The camp also introduced the novelty of using traditional communicators, the Kanyelengs who performed specific songs on the camp’s theme. Campers were taught soap making and religious perspectives of climate friendly practices.

Established in 2015 by former Presidential Affairs Minister and Youth Empowerment Expert, Momodou Sabally, Sabally Leadership Academy is a youth mentorship foundation aimed at educating, instructing and inspiring youths for self-fulfilment and positive contribution towards community development and national progress.
SLA is built upon the founder’s philosophy as expounded in his self-help book “Instant Success: Ten Keys to Personal Achievement” and other books on positive thinking, self-fulfilment and patriotism authored by Sabally.
SLA has conducted lectures and seminars on leadership and youth empowerment for thousands of young people in The Gambia and abroad.

Recently they joined award-winning lecturer, activist and honorary U. S. Cultural Ambassador, Yewande Austin in support of a Youth Camp on Social Entrepreneurship run by Yewande’s Change Rocks Foundation for a group of girls in Richmond, Virginia.
