Hon Abdoulie Suku Singhateh APRC former National Assembly Member for Lower Baddibou Constituency in the North Bank Region has ended his silence on why he and his colleagues left the APRC for the United Democratic Party.

Speaking to The Standard Singhateh said he and a total of 22 APRC MPs have decided to shift allegiance to the UDP because it is among the parties now in power.
“For the past 22 years we have been telling our people to support the government of the day because only government can development and not the opposition. So now the government has changed and the UDP and others are in control therefore we decided to join them and develop our country,” he said.

He said his policy is to support and work with the governing party and not the opposition. “APRC is now an opposition and I cannot tell my people to support an opposition. We believed that UDP is a strong member of the government because even though he resigned from there President Adama Barrow came from the party,” Singhateh said.

Mr Singhateh further said he supported the UDP’s proposal for a party line election because that is better than Independent candidate system under which the MPs will not belong to any.
