Sukuta-UK Diaspora gives D200, 000 for community development

The Sukuta UK Diaspora community recently presented a cheque of 5000 pound sterling amounting to over D200, 000 to the Sukuta Trust Fund (STF) meant for the development of the major health centre and other community self-help projects in Dembadu.
The first phase of the project according to Aisha Isatou Cham, member of the Dembadu chapter in the United Kingdom, will be the construction of a laundry house at the Sukuta Health Centre fitted with state-of-the-art facilities. While the second and third phase will be centered on the renovation of Sukuta Central Mosque, the market and the Dembadu mini stadium.
Horija Touray, board member of Sukuta Trust Fund, said her organisation aims to provide voluntary services to the community and the donation would markedly improve the facilities at the health centre and the overall welfare of the citizenry.
Speaking at ceremony Musa Suso, deputy Governor of West Coast Region thanked the Sukuta people abraod for the “life-changing donation geared towards enhancing and improving community initiated projects” and urged other youth organisations in Europe and America to emulate them.

Deputy Governor Suso further urged beneficiaries to judiciously use the funds for its intended purpose.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the people of Sukuta, Mr Suwaibou Cham, secretary general of the Trust Fund gave assurances that the funds donated will be judiciously used.
Alhagie Sankareh of the Ministry of Health expressed his delight to be associated with the event. He assured the people of Sukuta of his ministry’s support and cooperation in the realisation of the programme.
Over twelve satellite villages in the Sannehmentereng Constituency receive medical coverage from the Sukuta health care.
The presentation ceremony held at the Sukuta bantaba was attended by eminent personalities in Dembadu.
