The Fatu Network to host Heroes Awards 2021

Press release – The leading online media and communication outfit in The Gambia, The Fatu Network, will be hosting the second edition of The Heroes Awards on 18th March 2022 at the Coco Ocean Hotel.

The cross-sectoral award is designed to honour outstanding and inspiring Gambians who have been instrumental in effecting positive change and development in diverse sectors of the Gambian society throughout 2021.

The annual awards will be attended by VIPs and dignitaries from around the sub-region including The Gambia, Senegal and Sierra Leone. A special invitation has been sent to First Lady Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow.

The Heroes Awards 2021 is programmed to be a classy corporate dinner with live entertainment from top musicians from The Gambia and Senegal.

The stage would be graced by Jaliba Kuyateh & The Kumareh Band, Youssou N’Dour & The Super Etoile, ST, OBoy and Jalimadi. The country’s best comedy performances will also be on display to give our audience a worthwhile night to remember. The award is themed a “corporate night.”

The awards, from the nomination to the award of recipients, will be handled by a committee that works independently from The Fatu Network.

That means The Fatu Network cannot make any decisions as to who should be awarded.

The awards committee members include Gaye Sowe, executive director of the Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa; Anna N’gulu Jones a commissioner of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Committee; and Fatou Amirah Mambouray, a budding entrepreneur in the industries of beauty and environment and a civil servant working for the Gambia Government.

Fatou Baldeh (MBE), the founder of Women in Liberation and Leadership and Magistrate Muhammed Krubally have since the formation of the committee been charged with the responsibility of dispensing fair and unbiased judgement in recognising exemplary Gambians.

The awards will be based on achievements in the year 2021, as the awards could not be given last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic
