The case involving the expelled People’s Progressive Party Banjul South NAM Touma Njai against party leader Kebba Jallow and the Independent Electoral Commission failed to proceed yesterday.

Touma, a former aspirant leader of the PPP, was expelled from the party and the legislator is seeking a court order to set aside her expulsion from the PPP.

The case was called before Justice A.T Osei of the High Court Annex in Kanifing in chambers. This is the second time in a row the case was called in chambers and while journalists were there to cover, they were not accorded the chance to witness the proceedings.

However, after the sittings in the chambers, reporters spoke to the IEC representative Sulayman Joof who doubles as the director of administration at the Commission.

Joof said Lawyer Lamin S. Camara appeared for Touma who was absent whereas Lawyer Kebba Sanyang appeared for the IEC. There were no representatives for the PPP and Kebba Jallow. “This was because they were not served with the process.”

Lawyer Kebba Sanyang also informed the court that he will reply to Touma’s motion. The content of the motion was not read before the court.
