By Aminata S Kuyateh United Democratic Party’s candidate for Bakau Constituency Assan Touray has said that he is unbeatable because he is the choice of the people. In an exclusive interview with The Standard, Assan said his already enviable contribution in the community makes him hard to defeat. “I have 100% hope that I am going to win the hearts of the electorate. I will be declared the winner for Bakau constituency on April 6,” he said. “Politics was in me well before I became a graduate but I never take it as a career. I became a politician well before 1994 coup came but we all know Jammeh’s regime wasn’t democratic. If you want to show your feelings about politics, you will get into trouble or even die mysteriously. That’s why I reserved myself. “I was chosen by the community to be a UPD candidate because of the qualities they see in me. I am determined respectful, hardworking and obedient. I have brought so many developments in Bakau well before I announced my candidature and I will continue to do more. “When I am elected, I promise do all my best to bring better human and youth development in Bakau; to listen to the voice of people and to take their concern. Even though I cannot answer everything at once, but I will put their complaints into consideration during my tenure in office,” he said. He added: “Right now my priority is to have a peaceful election. I advise supporters of the two parties, especial UPD supporters to desist from using foul words against our opponents. We let it be the most successful campaign; stay out of violence and put away our political difference as we are one. We are the sons and daughters of this peaceful country.”]]>
