The main opposition UDP has said it will hold an executive meeting in the coming days to finalise the selection process of its candidates for the 9th April National Assembly elections.

For the past two weeks, the yellow party has been engaged in vigorous but contentious selection exercises of candidates at constituency and regional levels.  The latest attempt by the national selection committee sitting at the party’s headquarters in Manjai Kunda, to finalise the process could not be completed as some contenders were referred back to their constituencies to sort out disagreements. These include aspirants from Kiang West and Sanementereng.

A senior member of the party involved in the selection process yesterday told The Standard that the party’s executive committee will have to meet and finalise the process soon. “An executive meeting will be held very soon over this matter and until then no final official list can be made available,” he told The Standard.
