The third edition of the Wanma Group Tech Camp, organised in partnership with Integrated Service Solutions, ended Sunday in Kotu.
It was funded by Africa’s Talking, a unified API platform for software developers in Africa.
By the theme leading the way through IT innovation, the camp attracted about 50 participants.
Lamin Jawneh, CEO of Wanma Group, described the week as “interesting,” adding that this year’s camp was better than previous years.
Mr Jawneh said the future is in IT, which if well used, has the potential to take not just Gambia, but Africa as a whole to another level in innovation.

He said the silicon values are all about innovation and this is why countries like Rwanda, Kenya and Senegal are leading in the sub-region.
However, he reiterated again that if The Gambia really wants to change the landscape and boost its economy, IT and innovation are the way forward.
He thanked Africa’s Talking, Unique Solutions, BJ Investment, Wanma Group and others who contributed to the success of the camp.

Mam Binta Njie, CEO, Integrated Service Solutions, said in today’s generation, one needs to be a techie to lead a decent life.
Fatou Ceesay, Asu Tech operational manager, called for the participation of more girls in ICT.
“To earn respect in whatever you do, you have to try to perfect yourself”, she told campers.
She encouraged them to continue innovating.
