The interim leader of the opposition APRC Fabakary Tombong Jatta, FTJ, has disclosed that his party will not celebrate July 22 as it has not been issued with a permit by the police.
Delivering a statement at a press briefing yesterday, FTJ however denied that their permit application mentioned celebrating July 22 but the birth of the party and accused some politicians of blowing the whole matter out of proportion.

”There will be no celebrations of July 22 and every APRC supporter who wishes to mark the day can do so through prayers at their individual homes,” he said.
FTJ however expressed hope that the authorities will not make a habit of denying the party permits. ”We do not want to be pushed to a situation where we will be forced to exercise our rights within the ambit of the law,” he warned.

Mr Jatta also called on the government to put an end to the now frequent sacking of people only because they are suspected of being close to former President Jammeh.
The APRC leader further called for the de-freezing of all APRC accounts saying that the funds in those accounts are mainly donations by party supporters and sympathisers.
FTJ was also critical of the heavy presence of the military in Foni while calling on the government to reintroduce Setsettal.
