Yankuba Touray, former member of the AFPRC military junta charged with the murder of his colleague Ousman Koro Ceesay in June, 1995 yesterday closed his defence before presiding judge, Ebrima Ba Jaiteh at the High Court in Banjul.

During yesterday’s sitting, Touray’s legal counsel, Abdalai Sissohor informed the court that the defence has not been able to secure the attendance of their last witness who lives abroad and as a result, they have decided to close the defence case.

Accordingly, the judge ordered the defence to file its written address within 21 days, also advised the prosecution to do the same after they have receipt of the defence’s address.

Justice Jaiteh further gave the defence 7 days to file its address on reply on points before adjourning the matter to 14th June, for adoption of the addresses.

The prosecution called nine witnesses and tendered several exhibits to prove its case against, whilst the defence called three witnesses with Yankuba Touray testifying as the last defence witness.
