Yonna Forex bureau donates Sami Karantaba health Centre

Yonna Forex Exchange Bureau Sunday donated medical items to the maternity ward of the Sami Karantaba Health centre in Central River North.
The donated items are worth over hundred thousand dalasi (D 100, 000).
They included six beds and bed sheets, two solar panels and four batteries, consumables, buckets, 7 packet of bandages and others.

Speaking during the handover ceremony at the health centre, head of finance department of Yonna Momodou Barrow, said the aim of the donation was to help the people of Sami Karantaba.
He said they are aware that the maternal ward of the health centre lacks enough beds and no electricity supply.’

“So we decided to give them a helping hand in providing some facilities to them in making sure that the people of Sami Karantaba have better health condition like any other individuals in the Kombo’s.”
Observing the state of the labour ward, Mr Barrow said it is “so touching” that sometimes even nurses struggle to attend to the patients because they lack enough materials to treat the patients.
To that end, he urged the people of Sami to make best use of the items donated.
He also appealed to other businesses to emulate Yonna and give back to the communities, stressing that government cannot do it all alone.

For Amadou Jan Jallow, ward head, the significance of the items are “very vital” as it will help women recuperate after giving birth.
He also said it would help those women who visit stranded.
Jallow expressed his “sincere gratitude” to the company.
Other speakers included the public relations officer of the health center Mr Alieu Daffeh and other staff of the health center.
