The Gambia is growing in almost every facet of life, but more needs to be done to decently accommodate the girl child in this growth plane. In spite of several policy pronouncements, legal frameworks and sensitisation programmes on harmful traditional practices, the country continues to be stuck in the shackles of social problems. Child marriage is one of them. Dating back to time immemorial, the cultural practice is deep-rooted and widespread.
