In the words of the preacher, ‘Wa Allahu aAlam’

The Muslim population accounts for 90 percent of the country's near-two million people, while 8 percent represents the Christian population. The remaining 2 percent subscribe to neither of the world's two main religions. They represent mainly those who practice African traditional religions. With the above religious demographic scenario, The Gambia can therefore be classified as a Muslim State, though not necessarily an Islamic State.
