Hardly a day goes by without hearing of the tragic death of a Gambian (or Gambians) in the high seas either on radio, television or in the newspapers. Do Gambians really have to die in the seas or in Libya? In my humble opinion, the answer is an emphatic no. But perhaps there is something in this issue more than meets the eye. Have all the questions about the back way syndrome been asked and answered or are some of the questions just pushed under the carpet, as it were…
