The relations between the United States of America and the Republic of The Gambia have not been quite good. The US has particularly picked bones with The Gambia over the latter's human rights record. The ties have been further strained following the December 30 insurgency. It happened that the unfortunate incident was planned on the US soil and majority of the attackers are based in the US.
