The government on Thursday announced that the Sene-Gambia Bridge will be closed to all traffic from 15th of June 2019 to 30th of June 2019.
According to a press statement from the Ministry of Transport, Work and Infrastructure and the management of the National Roads Authority the closure is necessary to allow the contractor to carry out the finishing touches to the bridge.

It added: โ€œDuring the period of this closure, the Gambia Ferry Services will continue the service of ferrying people, vehicles and goods across the river.
โ€œThe Ministry and the NRA apologise sincerely to the travelers using this corridor for this inconvenience and would like to inform the public that service on the bridge will resume on the 1st of July 2019 when the bridge will be opened to all vehicular traffic including trucks.โ€
