GAF ASSURED CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PLAY

…as CDS crowns them with D50, 000

The Chief of Defence Staff,  Masanneh Kinteh yesterday presented D50.000 to the national football league champions Armed Forces FC and assured them that they will participate in the African Club Champions League competition.

The team won the domestic league this season with two matches to spare and gained themselves a right to be placed among clubs to compete in the next African champions league.
Presenting the money, CDS Kinteh who is the President of the club said:

“I want to assure the team and the entire nation that there is every commitment in me to ensure that the success of this team doesn’t go in vein. I want to make-sure that we take part in every competition we qualify for”.

He said the good thing is that President Adama Barrow is a football fan ‘and am very much sure he is ready to support any sporting agenda that comes on his table’.
CDS Kinteh reminded the team that sports is an integral part of the army as it is vital for the soldiers’ whose job is physical in nature.

“Sport is a service that is very physical and it gives us the opportunity to develop physically and keeps us active,” Kinteh said.
He also promised to constitute a sport command, which is going to be a sport battalion concentrating on only sport.

“I cannot accept this team or sport in general to run down under my command. In fact there are also ongoing plans to ensure that every aspect of sport is instituted into GAF,” he said.
Kinteh concluded by assuring the GAF football team coach that his contract will be extended.
Meanwhile, the 2nd Vice President of the club Colonel Essa Tamba and team coach Ebrima Jarra all highlighted the progress made by the team and called on the CDS to ensure the team receive all the attention it deserved.
