Ten Gambians are among 27 cricket umpires from Africa attending a five-day cricket capacity building programme in Lagos, Nigeria.
The ten-man delegation from The Gambia, led by the vice president of The Gambia Cricket Association, Mbye Dumbuya is attending the programme where Cameroon, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Mali, and host Nigeria are also part of.

The programme is part of a series of cricket development initiatives being undertaking by the International Cricket Council (ICC) Africa to enhance the game on the continent.
Reacting to the development, the President of The Gambia Cricket Association, Mr Johnny Gomez, applauded the organisers and emphasised the need for such programs to consolidate the reputation of the game in Africa.
“We are grateful to ICC Africa for organising this worthwhile event,” Johnny said.
